Dining Room and Bar

We have a contemporary dining room which our guests use for breakfast and dinner. Our evening menu is also available through the week to non-residents. All food is home-made and is freshly prepared on our premises.

A separate bar lounge is also available for guests' use and we offer a range of wines and beers to residents.

Wonderful Breakfast

The most important meal of the day - we pride ourselves on our breakfasts and this is reflected in the great reviews that we receive. You can opt for the traditional full English, or lighter bites if you prefer. A good breakfast is included in all of our room rates.

Breakfast is served 7.00am to 8.30am Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 9.30am at weekends and Bank Holidays.

Dinner in our Restaurant

We offer good quality traditional food at sensible prices. A sample of our typical menu is shown below.

Evening meals available Monday to Thursday 6.00pm to 8.30pm (last orders 7.45pm). Also available at weekends by prior arrangement.

Our starters range from £3.75 to £4.50.

    Deep fried camembert with salad garnish.

    North Atlantic prawns on a salad leaf bed with rose-mary sauce.

    Deep fried mushrooms in a breadcrumb coat served with a salad garnish.
  • Home made soup of the day
    Mike's homemade soup.
  • Pork liver pate with mushrooms
    A coarse pork & chicken liver pate with croutons of bread, salad leaves and chutney.
  • Mozzarella and tomato salad
    dressed with herb oil-breaded garlic mushrooms.

Mains:

Our mains range from £8.95 to £10.75 (soup £4.74, rack of lamb £16.75).

  • Home Made Soup of the Day
    Served with fresh cooked roll & Butter.
  • Fillet of Salmon
    Grilled salmon in a lemon and herd peri-peri marinade served with crushed new potatoes or a bed of pom puree.
  • Fish and Chips
    A whale of a fish in Hilary’s home made batter with seasoned chips, peas and sauce tartar.
  • Whole Tail Scampi
    Whole tail scampi lightly fried in breadcrumbs served with seasoned fries garden peas and sauce tartar.
  • Cottage Pie
    Slow-cooked mince steak with onions topped with seasoned mash.
  • Trio of Sausage and Mash
    Three types of pork sausage with creamy Mash, Winter vegetables and caramelised onion gravy.
  • Steak and Kidney Pie
    Slow braised chunks of steak with lamb’s kidney and a puff pastry top.
  • Steak and Mushroom Pie
    Slow braised chunks of steak with closed cup mushrooms with a puff pastry top.
  • Loin of Pork
    Served on a bed of red cabbage.
  • Roast Pork
    With sage and onion stuffing & Steamed vegetables.
  • Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding
    Roasted top side of Scottish beef and steamed vegetables.
  • Roast Lamb with Minted Gravy
    Roasted leg of lamb served with steamed vegetables.
  • Lamb Shank
    Slow cooked lamb on the bone with rosemary and mint.

    Full rack of succulent lamb pan seared served with steamed vegetables
  • Golden Chicken Nuggets
    Lightly Battered Chicken Pieces with a chilli dipping sauce, seasoned fries and garden peas.

    Spaghetti pasta lightly tossed in olive oil topped with home made bolognaise sauce.

    Slow cooked minced beef with a tomato mushroom & herbs sauce
    sandwiched between layers of pasta sheets toped with a cheese sauce.

    Traditional Mexican dish with boiled rice or chips.

    Tie green or chicken massala with rice or chips.

Lovely village. The Guest House was in a lovely place, our room (a double) very nice and comfortable. It had all the facilities you need, an iron and board and trouser press combined. The bed was very comfortable and plenty of storage space.

Breakfast was very good, we had a full English breakfast but there was a good choice of other things.

Enjoyed our stay here and will stay again.
